PREVENT INFLOW & INFILTRATION

During these heavy rains, Forestville Water District is experiencing massive increases in sewage flows due to rainwater entering the sewer system, some of it from illegal customer connections. These increases can cause sewer system overflows, which release raw sewage onto streets and properties.
This year the District has incurred tens of thousands of dollars of additional costs related to the collection and treatment of this extra water entering the sewer. It is illegal to discharge rainwater into the sewer system and the District will attempt to recover all expenses associated with illegal connections when they are discovered. Illegal discharges include routing catch basins, yard drainage, roof drains, footing drains, downspouts, and groundwater sump pumps to any systems connected to the public sewer including private sewer laterals. Any of these sources should be routed onto surface drainage, not into sewer connections.

Please help us manage these sewage flows and prevent sewer overflows by ensuring that you have no illicit connections. Please notify the District immediately, at 707-887-1551 if you observe or discover any illicit or illegal sewer discharges.
